Why should I change my Portal Address?
There may be some reasons why you would like to change your WEBCON BPS Portal Address. For me, it was my mistake, because I named portal as webcon.alterpaths.com and I had a DNS name collision and I was not able to use a mail server at alterpaths.com. For example, there may be also:
- Mirroring virtual machine as TEST or DEV instance
- Organization restructuration
Changing Portal Biding Name
- Go to Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
- Then right-click on it and choose “Edit bidings…”
- Finally, change the hostname
But this is not all. After that, you may find, that WEBCON Portal is not working. More specifically, SOLR – the component which is responsible for data indexing.
WEBCON BPS Portal – Error in SolrActivity Search
After hostname change, all reports from my Portal were gone. This looks like below.
To repair this problem you will need to run the WEBCON BPS installation file. After accepting the license agreement choose “Tools for application management”.
Then go to “Search Server configuration” and change address. After all, click the “Save” button.
In the end, you need to load the new configuration. However, I have no idea how to do it in a graceful way. So I simply rebooted this machine. After the reboot portal works fine under new Adress.
